Party Groove Hotlanta - Tony Moran
DMA Magazine says "Grammy-nominated DJ/remixer/producer Tony Moran is the driving force behind this continuously mixed 16-track installment of Centaur's Party Groove series. Craftily uniting diverse musical textures, Moran creates an exciting and entertaining soundscape. Stylistic shades range from the sexy (the Friburn & Urik Mix of Taylor Dayne's "How Many") to the dark and groovy (the Airmale Remix of Celeda's "Free Your Mind") to the mellow ( "The Art of Trance Remix Indiana's "Do You Hear Me"). Prominent tracks include the rich and resonant Voltaxx remix of "Deep Heart" by Deep Dive Corp featuring Inaya Day, the diving regional dub of "That Sound" from Rosabel, and the winsome K-Pable Mix of "Long Train Running (Without Love)" from Godwin (which is a cover of the Doobie Brothers classic). Somehow, perhaps magically, Moran manages to compress a nightlong musical journey into a single disc."

Voltage Hotlanta - Warren Gluck
DMA Magazine says "Rising in popularity on the circuit scene, Warren Gluck issues a great mix CD of newer tracks with a smattering of club favorites. The first three tracks set the pace (Kimisha Holmes I Need You Tonight, F@c Projects Let Dance, and Martha Turners Secret) of newly found import dance gems. One longs to see these issued domestically. While personally not a fan of Information Societys run-ning, it too is included here along with Kim Englishs Bumpin & Jumpin securing the I love this song! ratio of familiar tracks needed to sell ant mix CD. And while this may not initially come across as a compliment, Its nice to hear a mix CD with record scratches and some-what-slightly-off mixes intact. It gives up-and-coming DJs a glimmer of marketing and sales hope!."

Party Groove - The Fireball
Genre Magazine says "The legendary remixing team of Ralphi Rosario and Abel is back with the first-ever Fireball CD. The event that blew the roof off in Chicago this past February is established here in an explosive CD. This disc is the next best thing to attending the Ball itself, with inclusions such as the #1 hit "That Sound" and the recent #1 hit "Some Lovin'," which features circuit party diva Kristine W. Other notable tracks are Deborah Cooper's "Real Love," Pat Hodges' "Love Revolution," and the closing party anthem of ages, "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" by the legendary, late, great Sylvester. If that's not incentive enough, Party Groove: Fireball will benefit the Hearts Foundation, which is expanding its fundraising support program to involve several agencies focused on HIV/AIDS prevention and services."

Party Groove - The Fireball 2
Perfectbeat.com says "This is everything a circuit mix CD should be. It's got camp, it's got wailing divas, it's got pounding beats, it's got some stuff you've heard and love and some stuff you've never heard anywhere. Oh, and it's got Pepper Mashay, so it's complete. And while we're on that topic, let's talk about her duet on here with Colton Ford, the former porn star. They're singing a love song to each other. Now Pepper Mashay's appeal is that she's so camp that she's practically a drag queen, and then Colton's a gay man. So is it supposed to be as if Colton is singing to a drag queen? Or are they pretending that she doesn't want to sit and talk intimately with him for hours over Ben 'n Jerry's and that he doesn't want to tease her hair and do her makeup? I don't get it. But it's fun nevertheless. And then there's "Walk of Shame" by Rachel Panay. Absolutely fabulous. Now we have a song to play when our sorority girlfriends come over to tell you all about what she did last night when "I was so drunk...". This is just one of those CDs you're gonna love all the way through. Don't ask questions"

Party Groove - The Fireball 3
The Chicago Free Press says "DJ Paulo, who had the spinning gig for the Fireball's "Flame" party at Chicago's Crobar, takes the credit for this third volume of the Fireball mix-tape series. Even before I read the "thank you" to über-DJ/producer "Peter (Rauhofer) and the gang at Star 69" in the liner notes, I could hear his influence on Paulo's mixing and spinning, beginning with the computer-manipulated voice at the beginning of Michael C's "Feelings" and the brand of progressive house/tribal drums favored by Star 69 that continues on Xenon's "Destiny Drum" and Paulo's own "Oh Yeah." There is also the inclusion of the expected gospel number dance track Ageha's "A Better World," which still has me wondering when gay discos became churches. To his credit, DJ Paulo did manage to work in the Fats Waller cover "The Joint Is Jumpin'," by openly gay dance artist D1 Music (AKA Peter McLean)."

Party Groove - Motorball
Klubz.com says "The latest disc in the "Party Groove" series commemorates 'Motorball', a long running circuit party held in Detroit. Centaur regular David Knapp provides the skillful mixing. Knapp is known for spinning peak hour anthems but instead of his usual heavy dose of divas and intense vocals, he tones it down in this collection and gives us more of a fun, groovy sound. Beginning with the catchy 'I Will' from Inaya Day, Knapp follows with the underrated group Soulstice and 'Fall Into You' from their debut disc released last year. You'll find yourself singing along with the very fun 'Purple God' from Anny (what is a purple god?)...The energy is kicked up a notch with Erin Hamilton's cover of Kiki Dee's 'I've Got The Music In Me'. It's been a while since we've heard from Erin (1999's 'The Flame') and this new song definitely has a harder edge than the fluffy but irresistible 'The Flame'. Current dance floor hit 'The Heartbreak' is growing a bit tired now but it still fills the floor. Kim English's 'Everyday' has been out for a while also but is lots of fun. A new song by Dynamix called 'No Man Can Tame Me' makes its debut on this disc and its got all the right ingredients to be the next big house song. Pepper Mashay wore out her welcome with one too many dives into the pool, but she's back here with 'You And Me', which surprised me by actually being a pretty good song (despite the screaming diva vocals). Knapp ends on familiar ground with a hard house cover of Pat Benatar's 'Invincible' sung by Sevana Stone. All in all, not a bad collection of songs, not Knapp's best but not much to dislike."

Party Groove - Motorball 2
klubz.com says "5 out of 5 .... There has to be at least 30 Global Groove and Party Groove discs in the bins at Tower Records. So what is so special about the newest one? Julian Marsh mixes this set, commemorating the Motorball Party held in Detroit each year, and is known for spinning happy, upbeat vocals. What makes this disc special is that it is one of only a couple in the Party Groove series featuring trance music. Julian starts his mix of happy music with "Good Luv" from DJ Pierre. He then adds a Latin beat with "Rain". Next, the woman who should have stayed in the pool a couple years ago when she had the annoyingly overplayed, "Dive In The Pool", PEPPER Mashay tones it down a bit with "Lord Have Mercy". Julian gives us his own mix of Abigail's "Falling". I've always thought her vocals sounded better within a trance song than house. Finally, we have the proof. In the liner notes, Julian says that "7 Years" is his current favorite song. It is a good song, but there are two tracks coming up that will blow that one away. Solid Sessions' "Janeiro" has been around for a while but Armin van Buuren's remix lifts this beautiful song to a new place. This soaring, euphoric song is the highlight of the set. A close second is Above & Beyond's "Far From In Love". They made a name for themselves a couple years ago when they remixed Madonna's "What It Feels Like For A Girl", and they have been producing first rate remixes ever since. This time they put their trademark sound behind their own composition. They should have done this long ago, this is easily one of their best tracks. We haven't heard much from the Space Brothers lately, but they are back in a big way now with three new songs. They are well known for recording under several different names: Chakra, Ascension, and on this disc, Lustral (of course you remember "Everytime"). The new track presented here is called "Broken". Their trademark sound is still intact. Finally, Julian closes the disc with Red Jerry's "What Colour Is Love?" After Julian mix sets you back down, you'll want to add this to your collection, it's one of the best in the "Party Groove" series."

Party Groove - Motorball 3
Swerve Magazine says "Centaur Music comes out with their 12-track Motorball Volume 3, once again mixed by DJ Alyson Calagna. This time she keeps inside the more stereotyped tribal and wailing diva circuit genre. And that's not a bad thing. The festivities start off with London 909's "Te Gusta La Musica," a mostly intrumental track with funky bass lines and a slight touch of tribal. "It's All Right," from House Family follows and if this track doesn't make you want to dance, I don't know what will. With a catchy bass and feel good vocals by Helen. The circuit entity Ralphi Rosario along with Donna Blakely then invites you to "Celebrate" your life. Plateau Royale inspire you to "Turn Around and Dance" with the expected and appreciated wailing vocals from Sabrynaah Pope. D Ramirez get their "Freaque On" with vocalist Pete Simpson. "Bodies Movin'" by Housekeeperz, co-produced by Calagna, also give you the expected tribal rhythm with hard synth jabs to add that extra energy. Brown Sugar II's "Feeling Hot" adds even more tribal rhytms. Ramirez 2 continue that tribal feeling with ethnic vocals thrown in as well. Made By Monkey's "I Try" darken things a little with their haunting vocals and killer break. And Calagna ends her set with the hypnotic "Third Dimension" from D-Formation, containing more of the ethnic vocals, bass and a tiny bit of tribal. If you are in the mood to get lost in the music and forget about the world for a moment, then Centaur as always has pulled through with another compilation to make you sweat. And again, sales from this CD go to Geared4Life, a Michigan-based charitable organization dedicated to providing services to people affected by HIV/AIDS."

Party Groove - A weekend In Oz
Perfectbeat.com says "A continuous DJ mix by the talented Alyson Calagna, showcases the tribal house and traditional circuit music as featured at the recent Weekend In Oz event. The collection features sought-after tracks by Praxis featuring Kathy Brown ("Turn Me Out"), Amuka ("Appreciate Me"), and Purple Kitty featuring Latanza Waters ("Bang On"). When it comes to finding a collection that actually sounds like a night out at a special event, it really doesn't get any more authentic than this. A recommended release!"

Winter Party 4 - DJ Warren Gluck / Tracy Young 2CD
DMA Magazine says "Another exceptional new set aimed right at the circuit players is the Winter Party 4 collection, a double CD set from New York's leading circuit specialty label Centaur, mixed by two of the hottest superstar spinners on the circuit, Warren Gluck and Tracy Young. Disc One is called "Sunshine," and its focus is the annual outdoor party on Miami's sizzling South Beach. Gluck's the master of this disc, with an irresistible blend of splashy, full vocal circuit house with invigorating flashes of great HiNRG from people like Gloria Gaynor, Tony Moran, Three Jays, Love Rush and David Morales. Tracy's got "Tonight," the second disc, and it's a non-stop hard-charging blend of the hottest house, tribal and trance around with divas like Vernessa Mitchell, Jeanie Tracy (with Rosabel) dancing alongside state-of-the-art hotties like New Life Crisis's "Daylight." This set features a fantastic array of terrific exclusives too. And we mean the GOOD stuff-brand-new circuit music, uplifting promo mixes and basically the kind of stuff that everybody expects from the top jocks like Tracy and Gluck. These are the tracks that everybody else will be looking for come summer."

Winter Party 6 - Roland Belmares
HX Magazine says "On this edition of Centaur's annual Winter Party mix, Roland Belmares takes on the wheels of steel. The mix is high on divadom, initiated on the opening track "Superwoman," by GTS featuring Karyn White. Peppering the mix are vocal interludes keeping the beat moving with calls to dance-floor action. Camp recurs throughout in numbers like "I Want Your Sex" by Soho Boy featuring Alex, Cyndi Lauper working over "Disco Inferno" and a surprise duet from Kristine W. and Elton John closing out the disc."

Winter Party 7 - Tony Moran
Circuit Noize says "With a great number of party-related collections available all of a sudden, it's hard to pick the disc that best suits your particular palette...especially since each DJ has a different idea of "the Circuit sound," which can range from jazzy tea dance house to balls-to-the-wall vocal trance. Leave it to Tony Moran, however, to deliver a collection that sticks to what most of us would consider the traditional Circuit formula, featuring dramatic hi-NRG vocal anthems with both star power and underground cred. First on the list of must-have moments comes from none other than Donna Summer, whose new tune "You're So Beautiful" gets the full divas-to-the-dancefloor treatment thanks to Mac Quayle and Moran himself...which is probably why we've only seen the tune available here. Come to think of it, Moran definitely proves there's power in being an original producer with accompanying tunes from Nicki Richards ("Let the Sunshine In") and Ric Sena ("Alegria"), both of which receive Moran's magic touch in the studio. Also sharing the limelight with such mainstream mainstays are cool club cuts from Presta & Stakey, Palm Spring and the catchy new vocal anthem from Benassi Bros. featuring Sandy. Tony's got a winner with this one."

Winter Party 8 - Roland Belmares
Perfectbeat.com says "Whoop whoop, Roland does like it hard (sorry Ro', I know it sounds wrong, but it's just what came to mind at the disc's conclusion). Even the mellow tracks are presented in their hardest mixes. This is truly a circuit queen's dream come true. A nice combination of both recent releases and rising stars, Roland has selected a tracklisting that makes you want to run up and hug him at the beginning of each song, and even includes two tracks remixed by Belmares himself - Pat Hodges' "The Message" and Abigail's "Songbird". In addition, the still unreleased Friscia & Lamboy Club Mix of Taborah's new spolight track "I Am (The Rising) rears its head, Red Carpet pounds you into submission with gentle sentiments and heavy Doublefunk beats, and Sun's follow-up to "One", "Without Love" appears as the Tony Moran & Dan Broeder Mix. Winter's never been this hot."

Winter Party 1998 2CD
Billboard Magazine says "In terms of compilations of current material, there's absolutely nothing better out there right now than "Winter Party 1998," a double-disc soundtrack to the annual Miami event. In a market still saturated by hit-free "mega-hits" sets, this Centaur Entertainment collection washes over the brain and body like a cool breeze on a summer afternoon. Executive producer Nick De Biase has done an exemplary job of gathering material that only a handful of industry insiders have previously been able to obtain like Soul Solution's gorgeous renovation of "On Silent Wings" by Tina Turner, Full Intention's genius interpretation of "Carry On" by Martha Wash and the impossible- to-find Boy George anthems "Love Is Leaving" and "When Will You Learn." There's also the rare "Open the Door to Your Heart" by unsung NRG hero Paul Varney and the first fruit of ex-Go West belter Peter Cox's recent solo sessions, "If You Walk Away" (as deftly remixed by Frankie Knuckles). Among the other high-profile contributors are Louie Balo (teamed with Gizelle Jackson on the Ultra Nate-penned "Don't Shut Me Out"), Sunscreem ("Who Will Love Me Now"), Nalin & Kane ("Talkin' About"), and Lonnie Gordon ("A God That Can Dance"). For the uninformed, the Winter Party is one of Florida's largest and most successful club events designed to raise funds for the Dade Human Rights Fund, a nonprofit group whose primary mission is to advance education and raise awaremess with respect to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans- gender issues. Besides getting some fierce jams, you also get to contribute to an important cause when you support this project. Lovely, eh?"
